Avera St. Benedict Health Center in Parkston has been helping Cancer patients though their crisis with chemotherapy since 1982. Cancer Services available: PET-CT, MRI, CT, Nuclear Medicine Bone Scans, laboratory, Chemotherapy, monthly Oncology outreach clinics with Dr. McHale. Navigator Cancer Support Program.

If you or a loved one needs immediate medical assistance, the Avera St. Benedict Emergency Department is open 24 hours a day - everyday - to take care of your big and small emergencies. The Emergency Department is always ready for you and staffed by an emergency physician and an experienced staff.
The Avera St. Benedict Emergency Department provides 24-hour, daily physician coverage for patients who have experienced an injury or facing a life-threatening situation.
The department has six treatment rooms and the staff is highly qualified and trained in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
The Emergency Department offers Level III emergency care consisting of:

Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapy helps patients regain skills that are needed to be independent with all normal daily tasks.
- Anyone with limitations due to an injury or illness who needs assistance to participate in daily home or work tasks can benefit from OT.
- Specific task activities focus on skills needed at home such as independence with dressing, bathing, cooking, laundry, and more.
- Home assessments are completed to ensure safety and assist patients to remain in their own home as long as possible
- OT also works with children, encouraging success with school and play tasks
- Avera St. Benedict Health Center’s Occupational Therapist is a specialist in the treatment of hand injuries and works closely with surgical specialists in our region.
- OT is available 5 days a week by a licensed Occupational Therapist with over 10 years experience.
- OT services are provided in the hospital, long term care, assisted living, home health, and on an outpatient basis.

Pastoral Care
Our Certified Clinical Pastoral Educators offer pastoral care services providing spiritual and emotional support for patients and families and is available in all entities of the facility. Daily devotions and interdenominational services are held in our beautiful chapel. The chapel is located in the hall between Bormann Manor and the Hospital. Parkston Community Ministerial Association meets on a monthly basis to plan special holiday and memorial services at Avera St. Benedict, hold weekly protestant services, community CROP walk, etc.
