A live CME Videoconference with Charles J. Miller,MD, Clinical Associate Professor, Department of Surgery/Neurosciences, University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine, Sioux Falls, South Dakota

Objectives

1. Discuss the mechanisms of brain injury in post-cardiac arrest

2. Describe the current status of evidence for therapeutic hypothermia in cardiac arrest

3. Identify the roles that hyperoxia and time to cooling play in outcomes for therapeutic hypothermia after cardiac arrest

4. Discuss the recent literature regarding non-shockable rhythms and in-hospital cardiac arrest in relationship to the use of therapeutic hypothermia
