An AACN Webinar
In the ICU, evaluating patient data about pain and agitation can be confusing, making it difficult to identify which condition to treat to best manage a patient's cloinical need. This presentation focuses on assessing and managing pain and sedation in the critically ill adult, including identification of valid and reliable assessment tools and implementation of evidence-based interventions.
1. Identify at least one pain assessment scale and one sedation-agitation scale that are valid and reliable for use with critically ill patients
2. Describe the Clinical Practice Guidelines recommendations for medication choice to treat pain in critically ill patients
3. Define analgosedation and its role in managing sedation with critically ill patients
