An ACCN Webinar

Description: This program will explore recent improvements in the understanding and treatment of sepsis, with an emphasis on early identification, evidence-based interventions, and implementation of protocols within the hospital--from the ED to the floor to the ICU.  The presentation includes updates from the Surviving Sepsis Campaign, as well as recent studies addressing the management of severe sepsis.

 

Objectives:

1. Define sepsis and describe its epidemiology

2. Describe the role of the nurse in the identification and assessment of the patient in severe sepsis and septic shock

3. Identify the evidence-based interventions for managing patients with severe sepsis
