Telephones and Cell Phone Use

Telephone Service

Regular telephones are provided in each room, except on the Mental Health Unit/Worthmore and in the Intensive Care Unit. Local calls may be made at any time from a patient’s room by dialing 9 and the number. Long distance and toll-free calls can be made at any time by dialing 9-0 and the number. Long distance calls cannot be charged to the room. You can make a credit card call or charge a long distance call back to your home number.

Family and friends can call a patient by dialing 622-5 and the room number. For example, to call room 360, dial 622-5360.

You may call the hospital operator by dialing 0 at any time for assistance.

Cell Phones

Patients and visitors are asked to limit their cell phone use to waiting rooms, lobby areas or the cafeteria.

You are asked not to use cell phones or two-way radios in patient rooms or in the critical care areas of the Emergency Department, Surgery, ICU, Kidney Dialysis and the Nursery due to their potential to interfere with the operation of medical equipment and computers.
