Avera St. Luke's Auxiliary
Avera St. Luke’s Auxiliary, which includes about 230 members, promotes and advances the welfare of Avera St. Luke’s through service as fund-raisers, ambassadors and volunteers. Auxiliary members and volunteers provide more than 35,000 in-service hours to the hospital each year.
The Auxiliary sponsors a variety of events, as well as a scholarship program to help students who attend college in South Dakota. The Gift Shop at Avera St. Luke’s is staffed by volunteers and is the Auxiliary’s biggest money-making project. The Auxiliary donates funds for a wide range of items at the hospital, and raised $150,000 to help fund construction of Avera St. Luke's warm water therapy pool.
Phyllis Haselhorst, an active member of Avera St. Luke’s Hospital Auxiliary for 20 years, was chosen “Outstanding Auxilian of the Year” for 2007 by the South Dakota Association of Healthcare Auxiliaries.
Our Auxiliary was chosen “Outstanding Auxiliary" for 2004. Gen Westerfield, a 25-year member, won the “Outstanding Auxilian of the Year" honor in 2004.
