Our Cancer Care Center is located at 620 Third Ave. SE, Aberdeen, SD, on the north side of Avera St. Luke’s Hospital.

New Cancer Institute Planned

Avera St. Luke's Hospital is working on plans to build an $11 million cancer center that will offer expanded services, attract cancer specialists to the area and solidify Aberdeen's reputation as a regional cancer treatment hub. Avera St. Luke's is very excited to move into this next generation of cancer care services.

Accredited Cancer Program

Avera St. Luke's Cancer Program has received accreditation approval from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. This is the "Hallmark of Excellence" awarded to cancer care programs that have made a commitment to providing high quality, comprehensive, multidisciplinary patient-centered care. This puts Avera St. Luke's in an elite group of cancer care providers.

'Awaken' exercise class for cancer survivors

“Awaken,” an exercise class for cancer survivors, is offered at 2:30 p.m. Monday and Wednesday afternoons at Avera St. Luke’s Therapy Center. A physician's order is needed; cost is $30 month. Vicki Holley, an American Council on Exercise (ACE) certified personal trainer with a Cancer Exercise Specialist advanced qualification, leads the classes. She also teachers class in Tai Chi and Ai Chi and leads a warm water specialty class. For more information or to register, call 605-622-5979 or 605-622-5878.

Treatment Technology

Our sophisticated Varian 21EX linear accelerator produces and delivers high doses of radiation to destroy certain cancer and can perform specialized treatments such as Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT).

We have state-of-the-art GE computed tomography scanners that give patients and health care professionals faster and high quality, more detailed images of the human body.

Avera St. Luke’s Imaging Center

Our Imaging Center in Avera St. Luke's Healthcare Plaza offers the best and latest imaging technology, including full-field, direct digital mammography and DEXA bone densitometry, all in one convenient location, 820 First Ave. SE in Aberdeen, SD.

We offer the only certified diagnostic mammography within 200 miles of Aberdeen. Our mammograms are ‘double-read’; that means each image is read by two on-site radiologists.

Avera St. Luke's Imaging Center is a free-standing facility, providing easy accessibility. The Imaging Center, open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, also offers ultrasound, CT exams, bone density tests and direct radiology (X-ray) services, all available on an outpatient basis, without having to navigate through the hospital.
