Chaplaincy / Pastoral Care
In response to our mission of responding to God’s calling for a healing ministry, Avera St. Luke’s chaplains provide spiritual support for patients, residents, families and staff in times of crisis, death or personal need. A Catholic priest and chaplains are available 24 hours a day for spiritual and sacramental ministry, and a Native American consultant is available when needed.
Numerous studies have shown that religion and spirituality are good for your health, and the Chaplaincy Department has found faith often plays a role in healing at Avera St. Luke’s.
Chaplains are available at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital; at Avera Mother Joseph Manor, our long-term care facility; at Nano Nagle Village, our assisted living residence; and at Davis Court, our independent living apartments.
Avera St. Luke’s is accredited by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education Inc. Chaplain interns are trained and integrated into the spiritual care continuum via extended CPE units.
