Level II Nursery

We offer Level II Nursery Care if your baby should require special care. We make sure your newborn benefits from the most accurate testing procedures and latest medical technology.

The following is available if needed:

  • Vital signs and oxygen monitoring
  • Warmer, Isolettes and Bililights
  • Support equipment such as ventilators to stabilize infants until transport to a Level III Center
  • Avera St. Luke's Telehealth to connect newborns to neonatologists and other pediatric specialists

Breast Feeding Support Available

This focus also includes a strong emphasis on breastfeeding. Our breastfeeding rate last year was 83%, above the national average of 75%.

BirthPlace Nursery

Avera St. Luke's central nursery in our new BirthPlace features a celestial theme with star and moon shapes in the tile floor, lighting fixture and fabrics. The nature theme continues with a beautiful rainbow-shaped window that is low enough for even young children to see the babies easily.
