At Avera St. Luke’s Hospital, we understand that women have special needs. That is why we offer the following list of services that are specifically for women or that are most often utilized by women. 

Childbirth Preparation/ Parenting

Classes offered: breastfeeding, childbirth refresher, childbirth preparation (evening series or daylong session), transition to parenthood, planning a vaginal birth after a caesarean, and sibling preparation.


Fertility Care

 Natural birth control or pre-conception planning class.


Fibromyalgia Treatment

A specialized exercise program and treatment plan for symptoms of fibromyalgia, such as chronic muscle soreness and loss of flexibility.


Growing Family First Foto
The first photo of your baby in the hospital.


Tai Chi

Tai Chi classes are held quarterly and offer participants peace of mind, strength, relaxation and balance.


Infant Massage Class

A pleasurable way to develop trust and intimacy and strengthen the bond between baby and you. Promotes a strong sense of confidence in parenting. Parents also find relaxation, peace and calming for themselves.



We offer couples an inexpensive, safe method that can increase chances of achieving a pregnancy by 20 to 40 percent and even higher if medical treatment is done.



A nonsurgical approach to incontinence treatment.


Lactation Consultation

Education and assistance with breastfeeding infants.


Look Good, Feel Better

A support group for women undergoing chemotherapy.


Mammography Services

A fully accredited mammography program that offers screening and diagnostic exams, featuring full-field, direct digital mammography equipment.


Massage Therapy

Massage therapy specifically for women is available. Massage facilitates healing through touch and stimulation throughout the body to affect whole system functioning and to reduce stress and tension.


Nutrition Services

Individual medical nutrition therapy services are provided for weight management, eating disorders, lipid management, food allergies, diverticulosis/diverticulitis, sports nutrition and diabetes.


Nurturing New Families

Follow-up check for mother and baby after discharge from the BirthPlace at Avera St. Luke's.


OB Tens

Nonpharmacological, non-invasive relief for labor and delivery.


Osteoporosis Education


Osteoporosis Screening

If your bone density is low, or decreases at an abnormally fast rate, you may be at risk for osteoporosis.


Perinatal Bereavement Services

Bereavement services for miscarriages, stillborn, or newborn deaths.


Physical Therapy

Specialized women’s health needs such as pelvic and low back pain with pregnancy can be done in a woman-to-woman environment.


Prenatal and Postnatal Exercise

Specialized exercise classes for women before, during and after pregnancy.


Pregnancy Massage

A woman’s body undergoes many dramatic changes during pregnancy, some stressful and uncomfortable. Massage reduces stress and promotes general well-being. Ask us about pregnancy, labor, and postpartum massage.


Small Miracles 

Parents who deliver at Avera St. Luke’s have the option of having their baby’s photo on our website nursery.


Free blood pressure screenings

Offered six times monthly in Aberdeen, SD, for both men and women:

First Tuesday: The Homestead, 9 to 10 a.m.

First Thursday: Fifth Avenue Apartments, 1 to 2 p.m.; Sherman Apartments, 2 to 3 p.m.

Second Wednesday: Bicentennial Apartments, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Third Tuesday: Aberdeen Area Senior Center, 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

Fourth Wednesday: Avera Mother Joseph Manor, 1 to 2 p.m.
