eICU® CARE

Advanced intensive care monitoring for patients, peace of mind for families.

What is eICU® CARE?

eICU® CARE utilizes technology, along with the care provided in a critical or intensive care unit, to bring constant, around-the-clock attention from a team of intensivists, critical care nurses and support staff operating from a remote location.

This extra level of specialized care for critical care patients comes at no extra cost.

How Does it Work?

Patient information, including vital signs, medications and test results is sent over secure, high-speed data lines to Avera eICU® CARE physicians and staff. This information is continuously analyzed by computers and intensivists, helping bring attention to even slight changes in patient conditions, allowing for early intervention before significant problems may occur.

How Does eICU® CARE Work with my Physician?

Nothing replaces the effectiveness and care of the bedside physician. If your loved one receives eICU® CARE services, their local physician continues to make all decisions regarding patient care. Because personal physicians cannot be at the bedside at all times, eICU® CARE provides valuable monitoring and assistance.

About eICU® CARE

This technology is made possible at Avera St. Mary's through a portion of more than $1.5 Million in grant funding from The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust for the eICU® CARE remote monitoring system as well as a state of the art digital mammography system.
