The Dr. Edward Wegrzynowicz Continuing Education Endowment Fund was established to help further the education of those looking to enhance and continue their education within the health care field.
An Anesthesiologist in Aberdeen for over 14 years, Dr. Wegrzynowicz received his B.A. from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN and his doctorate of medicine from the University Of Minnesota Medical School. He did his internship and residency at Mayo Graduate School of Medicine in Rochester, MN specializing in anesthesiology, critical care medicine and pain management. He completed three trips to Brazil for Esperance, giving anesthesia for repair of congenital defects, and one trip to Poland.
"Dr. Ed", as he was more commonly known, was full of life and he had a very large heart. Whether preparing for a great feast or preparing to hunt, he was a continuous student, learning as much as he could about a variety of subjects. Dr. Ed passed away unexpectedly at his home on October 3, 2011. This Continuing Education Endowment fund will honor "Dr. Ed" and his memory in the quest of continuing education. In his memory, $500.00 scholarships will be awarded each year to employees within the Avera St. Luke’s Region.
Applications will be accepted on a rotating basis. Those wishing to obtain additional training such as Lab Techs, Pharmacy Techs, Surgical Techs, Sterile Processing Techs, those working toward a C.M.A., C.N.A. or LPN degree, or those wishing to take a Continuing Medical Education course may apply for a scholarship. Applications are due annually by June 1.
A person may receive only a single scholarship per year, but may apply again the next year. Scholarships will pay for CME meeting registration, tuition for on-line or on-site courses, or books and other necessities. They will not pay for travel, lodging, or meals.
