Walsh Family Village

Welcome to the Walsh Family Village, a team effort in hope, help and healing. It is a place to stay for families of patients receiving treatment at Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center.

Eligibility for Patients and Families

  • Guests or their family’s home needs to be further than 25 miles away.
  • Guests or their family need to currently be receiving in-patient or out-patient care at Avera McKennan.
  • Guests must be able to meet their own personal needs or can be assisted by a family member or other caregiver.
  • The cost for staying at the Walsh Family Village is a suggested donation of $50. No patient or family will be turned away based on inability to pay.
  • All guests must be referred by a hospital social worker.

The Walsh Family Village is affiliated with the National Association of Hospital Houses - we are a network of homes that help and heal.
