Recipe: Chocolate Clementines
Avera Heart Hospital nutrition team members developed this recipe especially for the holiday season. Oranges are a nutritional powerhouse, packed with vitamin C, a water-soluble antioxidant that prevents cell damage. The perfect end to any meal.
Chocolate Clementines
Makes 10 servings
Ingredients
- ¼ cup dark chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil
- 5 mandarin oranges, peeled and divided into segments
- Sea salt for garnish
Directions
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Heat chocolate chips in microwave safe bowl on full power for 30 seconds. Stir. Repeat until smooth.
- Add coconut oil to melted chocolate.
- Dip half of each segment into the melted chocolate and transfer to baking sheet.
- Refrigerate for 20 minutes, or until firm. Garnish with sea salt if desired.
Nutrition per serving: 54 calories; 2.4 grams fat; 7.6 grams carbohydrate; less than 1 gram protein.
