Recipe: Chocolate Clementines

Avera Heart Hospital nutrition team members developed this recipe especially for the holiday season. Oranges are a nutritional powerhouse, packed with vitamin C, a water-soluble antioxidant that prevents cell damage. The perfect end to any meal.

Chocolate Clementines

Makes 10 servings

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil
  • 5 mandarin oranges, peeled and divided into segments
  • Sea salt for garnish

Directions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Heat chocolate chips in microwave safe bowl on full power for 30 seconds. Stir. Repeat until smooth.
  3. Add coconut oil to melted chocolate.
  4. Dip half of each segment into the melted chocolate and transfer to baking sheet.
  5. Refrigerate for 20 minutes, or until firm. Garnish with sea salt if desired.

Nutrition per serving: 54 calories; 2.4 grams fat; 7.6 grams carbohydrate; less than 1 gram protein.
