Recipe: Fruity Lime Electrolyte Drink

Keeping the active teenager or adult hydrated during the hot summer months can be challenging. Especially if they don’t tolerate sports drinks, don’t like them or just want to try something different. This easy Fruity Lime Electrolyte Drink is hydrating and is filled with potassium and sodium – two electrolytes that are lost when we sweat.

Fruity Lime Electrolyte Drink

Makes about 24 ounces

Ingredients

  • 2 cups unsweetened coconut water
  • ¼ cup lime juice
    ½ cup water
  • ⅛ teaspoon salt (Himalayan pink salt, sea salt, table salt)
  • 4-5 strawberries (can substitute other fruits: oranges, blueberries, mango)
  • 1-2 teaspoon honey

Directions

  1. Place all ingredients in blender.
  2. Blend on high until fruit is incorporated.
  3. Taste and add more honey if desired.

Note: This recipe makes three 8-ounce servings. Each contains 120 milligrams of sodium and 380 milligrams of potassium.
