Remember, your yearly checkup is covered as preventive care with no co-pay with most health insurance plans, as are many types of cancer screenings. That’s why insurance coverage is important to your well-being.

Get a Yearly Checkup

A yearly checkup is a great time to check in with your provider and see if you need any of the recommended cancer screenings or immunizations. Cancer screenings may include breast, colon, prostrate and lung.

Here are the recommended ranges for some key screenings:

Blood pressure

  • Less than 120/80 mmHg

Cholesterol

  • High-density lipoproteins: 60 or greater
  • Low-density lipoproteins: less than 100
  • Triglycerides: less than 50
  • Total cholesterol (HDL+LDL+ 20% triglycerides): less than 200

Blood sugar

  • Less than 100 mg/dL (fasting for 8+ hours)

Body mass index (BMI

  • 18.5 to 24.9

General Wellness

There are things you can do every day to feel healthy and energized.

  • Get at least eight hours of sleep.
  • Get daily activity or exercise. Aim for 30 to 60 minutes every day.
