There has been a recent increase in recruitment scams. Cybercriminals sometimes post fake job listings or impersonate real companies to collect applicants’ personal information. These scams can look legitimate, often including professional emails, interviews or offer letters. Warning signs include:
- Requests the payments.
- Interviews which require an app download or are conducted only by chat or text.
- Messages from unofficial email addresses. It’s important to always check links.
If Avera is contacting you about an employment or internship opportunity, we will reach out to you via Vera Virtual Assistant with a 605 area code. Emails would be sent from the following addresses:
- vera@averaconnect.org (Vera from Avera Health)
- avera@myworkday.com
- talent@avera.org
- HRAdminAH@avera.org
Be cautious if a job isn’t listed on a company’s official careers page or if you’re asked to share sensitive information. Legitimate employers will not ask for money and only request personal details through secure, verified processes after a formal offer.
