Internships

Internship Eligibility:

• Be a college student in the last half of academic program.
• Currently acquiring education in a field relevant to the internship role.
• Have a strong desire to learn and grow with a high standard for quality.
• Required to obtain internship credit during your internship.
• Availability depends on location.

Opportunities & Programs

After many hours of homework, lectures and tests, you’ve built up useful knowledge. Bring it to life with an internship at Avera.

• Whether you’re plunging into patient care, specialty medicine or another clinical role, you’ll be able to learn directly from expert medical staff.
• Non-clinical internships are also available at Avera for students working in administrative roles, marketing or other departments.

Unpaid Internships Roles and Timelines

With unpaid roles, you have opportunities to apply for the fall, spring and summer. Paid internships are also available at different times throughout the year.

• Fall internship requests accepted April 1-15.
  Counseling, pre-occupational therapy, pre-physical therapy and social work (MSW and BSW), pre-med/abdominal transplant
• Spring internship requests accepted Oct. 1-15.
  Counseling, exercise science, pre-occupational therapy, pre-physical therapy and social work (MSW)
• Summer internship requests accepted Feb. 1-15.
  Healthcare administration, counseling, exercise science, pre-occupational therapy, pre-physical therapy
• Internships for graduate students: Areas include counseling and social work. Applications accepted as opportunities become available during the year.
