Nurse Residency Program in Sioux Falls

Work as a valued member of our health care team from the very start. To help ease the transition from student to professional nurse, newly employed graduate nurses at Avera McKennan Hospital are enrolled into a Nurse Residency Program.

National Nursing Certification

Nearly one-third of registered nurses at Avera McKennan Hospital pursue a national nursing certification. More than 20 specialty areas are available to choose from for specialization, such as emergency care, rehabilitation, cardiology, cardiac services and labor/delivery.

Certification in your specialty demonstrates knowledge, skills and accomplishments — and is the equivalent to board certification for physicians. Avera will support you to achieve certification with reimbursement dollars and ongoing recognition.

Professional Practice Program in Aberdeen

Offered at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital, the Professional Practice Program helps you develop and grow in your clinical field as a registered nurse. This program provides a level-by-level structure to enhance quality of care and improve patient outcomes and satisfaction. An annual stipend is rewarded when you achieve Level III.

Program Goals

  • Contribute to an environment/culture of nursing excellence through the delivery of high-level clinical care related to evidence-based practice.
