This is a series of three classes.
At Avera Queen of Peace, we know the importance of being prepared for the birth of your baby. We’d like to help you prepare by inviting you to attend free “Getting Ready for Baby” classes funded by the Healthy Start grant. This series covers information on labor and delivery, comfort measures and breathing techniques, and pain relief options; as well as caring for mom & new baby after birth, and breastfeeding. These classes are designed for you and your support person during the last trimester of your pregnancy. Classes will be held at 7pm in the Avera Queen of Peace Community Room.
If you have any questions please contact the Women's Center nurse manager at: 605-995-2293 or email molly.tuttle@avera.org
The first two classes will help to make the birth of your child a memorable event and will provide information on the stages of labor, relaxation and comfort techniques, and newborn characteristics and care. Classes are informational and you are encouraged to ask questions.
The third class is for all expectant parents whether you have already made the decision to breastfeed or are still undecided. Information will be provided on the benefits and techniques of breastfeeding and there will be time to answer questions. Fathers/support persons are encouraged to attend.
