This Understanding Birth eClass is an alternate option for those who are unable to find an in person Prepared Childbirth class that works for them. The class can do done in your own home and as you have time. The eClass provides a variety of mediums to educate including text, animation, images, 66 videos, 11 printable PDFs and dozens of interactive exercises and engaging activities. It is organized into 8 chapters including pregnancy, labor, birth stories, comfort techniques, medical procedures, Cesarean, newborn care, and postpartum care of the new mom. This class does not cover newborn care or breastfeeding in depth so we encourage you to take these classes separately to get the most information.
Please note: the videos and PDF's may not open on iOS products such as the i-pad or i-phone. However on other Apple products these features will work. Once you register for this class you will receive an email within three business days with your access code and you will have 4 weeks to complete your on-line class. When you are finished with the class we encourage you to email the Childbirth Education Coordinator to schedule an in-person class where you will be able to ask questions, practice breathing, relaxation, and comfort measures as well as receive a tour of the Avera McKennan Women's Center. The registration fee for this class is $80 which includes the on-line class, the in-person class and the tour.
