Expert Care for the Liver
Dr. Singal is part of a team in which the physicians and surgeons work closely together to provide the patient with the highest level of care possible.
With international experience from India, Saudi Arabia and New Zealand, he has developed a large practice to provide hepatology service to South Dakota and neighboring states. Dr. Singal initiated an integrated clinic for patients with alcohol-associated liver disease, the first of its kind in the Midwest, and managed by hepatologists and de-addiction team.

Education and Teaching
Dr. Singal is a professor of medicine at the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine. He directs the Hepatology Elective course for senior medical students, and regularly mentors students and residents from USD and internationally, including India, Pakistan and the Middle East.
His mentees have regularly received recognition and travel awards from USD and the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases.
Clinical Research
In addition to serving Avera patients, Dr. Singal is interested in research. He directs the clinical research program at Avera Liver Disease. With funded research from the American College of Gastroenterology and National Institutes of Health in the past, and ongoing international collaborations, he has brought Avera as part of the global NASH registry and alcoholic hepatitis studies.
Dr. Singal has over 225 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters on several topics including alcohol with hepatitis C virus infection, liver transplant for alcoholic hepatitis, acute on chronic liver failure, and porphyria. He is regularly invited to give presentations and talks at national and international forums.

Personal Interests
In his free time, Dr. Singal enjoys cooking, watching movies, reading and exploring transplant-related research. Besides English, he is also fluent in Hindi and Punjabi.
