Dr. Dix, a board certified foot and reconstructive rearfoot/ankle surgeon at Avera Medical Group Orthopedics & Sports Medicine in Sioux Falls, SD, offers expertise in the surgical treatment of a variety of foot and ankle conditions – for all ages – due to injury, trauma, deformity, or conditions such as arthritis, ankle instability, bunions, flatfoot, high arch feet, and more.

As a young athlete, Dr. Dix experienced foot problems from sports injuries, including many sprained ankles. After seeing the benefits of working with a podiatrist first hand and shadowing a podiatrist during high school, he was inspired to become a podiatrist who also offers sports medicine services.

“Being able to help patients heal and get back to doing the activities they enjoy and the lifestyle they want is the best part of what I get to do every day,” he says. “I strive to treat all patients as if they were my family members, to look out for them and take care of their needs.”

Active Lifestyle

In his free time, Dr. Dix enjoys spending time with his wife and young daughter, in addition to playing basketball and tennis, golfing, hunting, and fishing.

Dr. Dix and team were great about squeezing me in to get my issue addressed. The scheduling team and nurses were fantastic in answering all my questions and making it so very easy. Dr. Dix was great explaining what he needed to do and then what I had to do after the procedure to insure success. Very pleased with the whole experience.

I could tell that he is very knowledgeable about his expertise. He reviewed the X-rays, explained the issue and directed what the next steps will be. Had a few questions on the urgent care appointment and offered best practices for managing the boot.

The doctor was nice. He informed me of risk, however, I did get the feeling I was rushed. I did get the feeling I wasn't believed on one statement I made. Which I can understand to a point. Nice doctor and he was professional and polite. I just feel it was rushed.

I actually considered changing doctors following the first visit with Dr. Dix. Must have been a bad day for me - this second visit was a whole new experience. Very great from start to finish. I would recommend.

I was so pleased with Dr Dix and thankful she scheduled me with him. He was very professional and explained verbally and with pictures the problem with my toe and foot. What I didn't understand he explained further and offered choices in treatment which led to scheduling surgery. Everyone, to include the techs taking X-rays and the person scheduling my surgery were very nice and professional. What a clean environment too.
