When she was a young girl, Catherine Schiltz, DO, dreamed of becoming a doctor. Visiting her own doctor wasn’t a scary experience, but a fascinating opportunity to learn the importance about caring for others.
“I knew since then that this was what I wanted to do,” she said.
In medical school, general surgery interested her, but it was the opportunity to combine surgery and the priceless experiences of pregnancy and delivery that inspired her to pursue obstetrics and gynecology.
Today, Dr. Schiltz serves as a physician and surgeon in obstetrics and gynecology at Avera Medical Group Family Health Center in Sioux Falls, SD.

Along with personalized pregnancy and delivery, her busy gynecologic practice includes the management of abnormal bleeding, infertility, endometriosis, fibroids and pelvic pain.
Active Lifestyle
When she’s not at work, Dr. Schiltz enjoys spending time with family; she has four active sons. They love to stay active doing outdoor activities. Dr. Schiltz also likes to travel and work out.
