Dr. Yim has a long academic career dedicated to the highest level of clinical practice, innovation and education. He has taught medical students, residents and fellows at Johns Hopkins Hospital, University of California Irvine Medical Center and Emory University Hospital. His expertise is featured in over 50 publications, oral presentations and abstract presentations. He brings that same expertise and passion to Avera.

In addition to his work at Avera, he is a clinical professor at the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine, where he volunteers his time to teach medical students.
In his free time, Dr. Yim enjoys time with his wife, four daughters and son. He loves to exercise and is an avid reader – both personally and professionally. He regularly reviews scientific papers for several medical journals and teaches physicians throughout the country about the latest in image-guided spinal techniques. He sits on several committees for the Society of Interventional Radiology and also enjoys traveling to India on medical missions.
