An interest in science and a heart to help others inspired Dustin Bechtold, MD, to pursue a career in medicine. Today, he serves as an orthopedic surgeon at Avera Orthopedics in Sioux Falls, SD.

“I enjoy fixing things,” said Dr. Bechtold. “Solving a complex problem that will have a positive effect in a person’s life is very rewarding.”

The PA was good and friendly. Dr. Bechtold is an excellent surgeon and a good communicator. He is direct, maintains eye contact, answers all questions, and is friendly and kind.

I saw the PA and the doctor. Both listened to my concerns, answered my questions and explained the course of treatment. They also took into consideration my current life circumstances in caring for my husband as we considered next steps.

Basically a very good experience. Dr. Bechtold, his PA, Xray techs, and his nurse were all very professional and helpful. I was particularly impressed that he could pull up my x-rays from 2016, for comparison, from another facility, where I had seen him in 2016. I would definitely recommend him.
