“Medicine was my chosen future after I destroyed my knee playing football and landed myself in an orthopedic surgery office at 9 years old,” recalls Dr. Buchanan. “Experiencing my own injuries gives me a sense of compassion and understanding about suffering and how I can be part of alleviating it.”

Active Lifestyle
In his free time, Dr. Buchanan loves spending time with his family, including his wife and four children. “They are the center of my life,” he says.
He also enjoys competing in marathons and triathlons, playing sports, sky diving, snowboarding, skiing, hiking, camping, reading and volunteering for church activities.
“I get up every morning with optimism because it’s a new opportunity to inspire people to obtain and maintain an active, healthy lifestyle,” he says.
