Katrina Almeida, DPM, a podiatrist at Avera Orthopedics in Mitchell, SD, provides foot and ankle care for people of all ages.

Compassionate Care

As an athlete who started playing soccer at the age of 4, Dr. Almeida has experienced several ankle injuries throughout her life. She was inspired to pursue a career in podiatry after seeing how successful treatment allowed her to continue playing.

“The excellent care I received made me want to help people in the same way,” she says. “The best part of being a physician is seeing patients get better and go on to enjoy active lives.”

Dr. Almeida also speaks fluent Portuguese.

Active Lifestyle

In her free time, Dr. Almeida enjoys baking, cake decorating, being outdoors with her Labrador Retriever, biking, kayaking, hiking, playing soccer and snowboarding.

Dr. Almeida was very good at explaining everything!! Went through the pros and cons and focuses on what the outcome is we are looking/hoping for. Her assistant called a couple weeks later to follow up and answered any questions I had regarding the shot. She was great as well!! They make a great team! Highly recommend!!

Professional and very caring. Very thorough presenting options. Nurse and Dr. Katrina very direct and focused on my problem and then follow through with the option I chose and gave clear instructions on how to take proper care of myself so that there would not be an infection and that if necessary I can make another appointment so that they can give me further help.

The DR and nurse were fantastic by explaining what was going to happen and my Dr was Great and walked me through the whole process.I told her if I had known it was going to not hurt at all I would have done the procedure months ago

Dr. Almeida was rude to the point of being unprofessional, blaming me for my health issue. I don't plan to see her again. I will have my primary care doctor help me with any foot issues that may develop. Accordingly, I could not recommend her to anyone, because I wouldn't want my family or friends to be treated that way by her.
