Lisa A. VanGerpen, CNM, MSN, always wanted to work in health care. As a 16-year-old working in a local hospital, she witnessed the miracle of birth and decided helping women in that special moment was exactly what she wanted to do.
Today, she is a nurse midwife at Avera Medical Group Certified Nurse Midwifery Sioux Falls in Sioux Falls, SD.
Expert Care in Nurse Midwifery
Lisa provides a variety of services to support women over the course of their life. Her gynecology care includes well-woman exams and treating concerns such as abnormal bleeding and infections.
She also helps women with prenatal care through labor and delivery, and sometimes that means helping women manage risk factors such as gestational diabetes, hypertension and other pregnancy-related conditions.
“I’m most passionate about helping women have a positive birth experience no matter what that means for them,” said Lisa. “This can mean natural childbirth, having an epidural, or achieving a vaginal birth after cesarean or a repeat cesarean.”
Active Lifestyle
She enjoys spending time with her husband and children. Her personal interests include camping, hiking, doing Cross Fit and traveling. At other times, Lisa also likes to bake, cook and read.
