About Me

Mark Hagy, MD, brings over 18 years of experience in orthopedics and sports medicine to Pierre.

Dr. Hagy is board-certified in orthopedic surgery and fellowship-trained in foot and ankle surgery, sports medicine and total knee arthroplasty. He also performs anterior total hip replacements and revision surgery to cover a full range of orthopedic care.

His experience includes serving as specialist for several NCAA Division I sports teams, the New Orleans Saints and many others who expected the best in orthopedics skill and sports medicine know-how.
Among the procedures he offers:

  • Total joint replacements for hips, knees and ankles
  • Noninvasive “same day” surgical tendon repair
  • Anterior hip replacement
  • Repairs of ligament and tendon tears to the knee, ankle and foot
  • Chronic foot conditions: Midfoot arthritis, flatfoot deformity, bunions, and hammertoes
  • Mini-incision Achilles tendon repair
  • ACL reconstruction
  • Arthroscopic surgery for the knee and ankle
  • Cartilage Repair of the knee and ankle
  • Meniscus Repair
  • Ultrasound-guided injections of steroids, platelet-rich plasma, and other regenerative medicine treatments
  • Ankle sprains and instability

Dr. Hagy practices his specialty with a down-to-earth approach and a goal to get patients “fixed up fast” and back on their feet as soon as possible.

Active Lifestyle

Dr. Hagy came to South Dakota from the coast because he loves farming. He also loves the openness of the Pierre area's outdoors for hunting and fishing on or around Lake Oahe.

He found the problem with my wound and came up with the solution. But Dr. Hagy's attitude and shouting at me was very unprofessional. I have noticed when his PA asked him about putting antibiotic cream on my wound he told her in a bad tone "I don't care!"

Dr. Hagy has been my orthopedic doctor for awhile now and I have always felt he cared and did his best. I believe he is a great orthopedic doctor and he is awesome at providing me with the knowledge I need to explain things. He is a super professional orthopedic doctor.
