A South Dakota native, Marnie Terveen, MD, practicing at Avera Medical Group Obstetrics & Gynecology Sioux Falls, SD, always knew she wanted to help others. She loved science, problem solving and being on teams. Becoming a doctor was a natural fit for her—plus she was inspired by her sister, who’s also an OB/GYN. Her women’s health services include pregnancy care, labor and delivery, wellness and preventive screenings, and surgery.

From OB care, gynecological needs, including annual exams, to menopause support, Dr. Terveen provides OB/GYN services for women of all ages. She loves supporting women through labor and delivery, and caring for women’s preventative health care needs and well-being. She also evaluates and treats gynecologic issues.

Her advice for patients is, “Focus on your happiness and everything in life will fall into place.” Warm, friendly and open, Dr. Terveen says her favorite part of her job is working with women, who are such complex, unique people—giving birth to life and breastfeeding children. “It’s such a privilege to care for women, from delivering babies through helping them in the older years,” she adds.

In her free time, Dr. Terveen enjoys spending time with her husband and child. When not at the hospital or clinic, she can be found cooking, traveling, hiking, hosting get-togethers, gardening, and doing yoga.
