In high school, a young Nader Amini discovered a growing passion for physiology and psychology. Along with his other passion of helping people, pursuing a medical degree didn’t require much coaxing.
Today, Nader Amini, MD, is a neurocritical care intensivist for patients at Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center. He is part of the Avera Brain and Spine Institute team in Sioux Falls, SD.
“When it comes to the brain, there’s still lots to investigate,” said Dr. Amini. “We only know 35 to 40% about the brain.”
Expert Care in Inpatient Neurocritical Care
Dr. Amini understands that when patients are staying in the inpatient critical care unit, they and their families are stressed.
“Patients could be there after a surgery for observation,” said Dr. Amini. “At these times, patients are at their sickest and in their most vulnerable state."
So during a hospital stay, Dr. Amini is proud to serve you with state-of-the-art technology and years of neuro expertise. He cares for patients who are recovering from a variety of brain-related conditions, including:
- Cerebral aneurysm
- Malformations in the brain or on the spinal cord
- Severe stroke (hemorrhage or ischemic)
- Tumors of the brain, pituitary gland, spine or other structures
Active Lifestyle
When he’s not at work, Dr. Amini enjoys staying busy with hobbies, like hiking and mountain climbing, cooking (especially Mediterranean and Persian dishes), traveling, cars and movies.
Dr. Amini also loves exploring the world of computers and technical hardware, often building computers and gaming systems. Getting into the brains of a computer complements his interest in brain health!
Dr. Amini is also fluent in Farsi.
