About Me

Sherrie Brooks, DO, a specialist in cardiology at Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, is passionate about caring for the heart health of her patients. She was inspired to become a physician after a family member experienced illness.

Compassionate Care in Heart Health

As a physician in heart and vascular care, Dr. Brooks chose Avera once she saw the different and transformative approach to patient care as well as a fresh respect for employees. In patient appointments, her goal is to make patients feel comfortable by not using complex medical jargon.

An important part of her work is caring for common cardiac conditions, such as high blood pressure and heart disease.

Her interests in treatment include:

  • Heart generator changes
  • Heart casts
  • Pacemakers implantation
  • Cardiac syncope monitors implantation
  • EECP therapy
  • TEE test (transesophageal echocardiography)

Active Lifestyle

Dr. Brooks believes the core aspect of health is to be active. When people are active, many other components of well-being fall into place, including eating right, getting enough rest, scheduling preventive care through Planet Heart screening services, and avoiding health pitfalls, including smoking.

Personal Interests

Dr. Brooks enjoys spending time with her family, playing guitar and painting.
