As Teresa Vander Stouwe journeyed through her son’s pregnancy and birth, she was “wowed” by the compassionate and expert approach given by her midwife.
The idea of transforming her nursing career didn’t waver. Today, she cares women and babies with over 20 years of nurse midwifery experience at Avera Medical Group Certified Nurse Midwifery Sioux Falls in Sioux Falls, SD.
“Many of my patients feel like friends, sisters or nieces,” she said. “My patients have left an imprint on my life and hopefully I’ve done the same for them.”

Being a nurse midwife means Teresa serves women for many of their health-related needs in the obstetrics and gynecology field.
She helps women with prenatal care through labor and delivery, as well as provides yearly exams, breast health checks, and puberty to peri-menopausal health care.
Active Lifestyle
In her free time, Teresa enjoys reading, cooking, shopping and spending time with her children. She has two grandbabies that she adores and loves to snuggle, and humors that she has a love-hate relationship with her cat.
“I’m also blessed to have great midwife partners,” she said. “Our team likes to hang out as our busy schedules permit.”
