Outreach
Our laboratory consultant staff offers customized consultation services for physician offices, clinics and hospital-based laboratories as well as onsite contracted laboratory management. The consultants are experienced Clinical Laboratory Scientists with many years of laboratory and management experience. They are well versed with CLIA standards, compliance and billing issues as well as with COLA and CAP accreditation requirements. Our consultants will work with your staff to evaluate new laboratory methods or instruments, provide guidance and support for all disciplines of the laboratory, and also offer continuing education through webinars, onsite training, or group events as requested.
ALN-SF provides courier services to our clients in keeping with the highest quality and ethical standards. For those tests that are not performed in our Avera McKennan Laboratory, we utilize Mayo Medical Laboratories and ARUP Laboratory, located at the University of Utah: two of the most prestigious facilities in the United States.
Online Test Ordering and Results Reporting are available through ALN-SD using the Life Point product which can be interfaced to your electronic medical record (EMR). For Eide Bailly accounts, we use the Emdeon Laboratory Order Entry/Results Reporting system that is part of the Intergy Electronic Medical Record Product.
Client Services
Client Services is the primary contact for the laboratory clients and customers, both inpatient and outpatient. This area of the laboratory is staffed by specially trained laboratory professionals whose primary duty is to assist our clients and patients. These Medical Laboratory Technicians have received customer service training. They also make arrangements to connect clients/customers to our professional resources (Pathologists and other laboratory professionals). They answer in excess of 1000 calls per week and average less than 5% dropped calls.
Additionally, Client Services personnel are responsible for packaging and shipping tests performed by referral laboratories, test/specimen/client problem resolution, verbal and electronic communication with customers following established standards and procedures.

Outreach Courier Service
Avera partners with MedSpeed, an ISO-certified transportation service provider, to handle your courier needs. Medspeed offers scheduled routes to our high-volume laboratory clients, as well as on-demand services. For information on specimen preparation or processing prior to a courier pick-up, you may access the Online Test Directory or contact ALN-SF Client Services (CS).
Scheduled Services are available Monday-Friday excluding major holidays (New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day).
On-Demand Service for Immediate Needs are available for times when items need to be moved quickly, or on days when you do not have scheduled service. Charges may apply, based on the level of service required and time of request.
Sioux Falls clients - routine non-scheduled pickups:
