Avera is switching to Epic as its electronic health record (EHR) effective May 30, 2026. Access to the legacy EHR and other systems will cease at this time. The new platform is called Avera System Link, which is part of our overall implementation of Epic software.
What is Avera System Link?
Avera System Link is not an electronic medical record solution. It’s an Epic web-based application that connects Avera to community affiliates and practices – providing them with a subset of data needed to care for patients and health plans members.
It securely connects nurses, care teams, managers and providers to a secure web portal, giving you the tools to stay connected with patient care. In some other organizations, this platform is called Epic CareLink, or it may be branded with their own organization name.
Who Will Use Avera System Link?
You will use Avera System Link if you are:
- A staff member of a provider who has care privileges and is credentialed at an Avera or partner facility.
- An external, independent provider or staff member at a non-Avera facility and you need read-only access to a patient’s chart.
- Examples include the Department of Health, correctional facilities, non-Avera long-term care facilities, correctional facilities and school nurses.
- An external provider that uses Avera’s telemedicine services to eConsult with an Avera provider.
- A business enrolled in Avera’s occupational health services.
- A provider who has patients with Avera Health Plans health insurance.
We require that every organization using Avera System Link have a site administrator, and ideally also a backup as a second administrator.
Providers who have care privileges or are credentialed at Avera or partner facilities, as well as some other organizations will use Epic Hyperspace rather than Avera System Link. Learn more
