Finding Us: This emergency department is on the first floor inside Avera Family Health Center – Dawley Farm near the intersection of East 26th Street and SD Highway 11 (south of Target). Use the southeast entrance. Free parking is available next to the building.
If you or someone else is having a medical emergency, please call 911 right away. Avera Emergency – Dawley Farm is the first and only emergency department for residents on Sioux Falls’ east side. Residency-trained physicians staff our department 24/7, and we offer the same expertise and advanced technology as other large-scale hospital emergency department.
If a patient requires specialized care or needs to be admitted to the hospital, we will stabilize them on site and transfer them by ambulance to the appropriate Avera facility at no extra cost.

Telemedicine Services
Avera’s emergency services are supported by telemedicine – giving you and your emergency care team immediate access to specialized personnel via two-way video, if needed for your care. These specialists act as extra eyes who assist your hands-on experts as they work swiftly to care for or stabilize you.
Patient-Focused Care
Our emergency department was designed with our patients in mind. If you arrive by ambulance, you are unloaded in our ambulance garage before entering the facility. This prevents exposure to the weather and helps protect your privacy.
Our team will ensure you’re stabilized and cared for in a private room to further preserve your dignity. This flow of patient rooms also allows staff efficiency in serving patients and in team communication.
Laboratory
Right inside our facility, you have access to a wide range of laboratory services that contribute to accurate diagnoses of medical conditions. Expert specialists conduct safe and reliable lab testing, helping you and your provider get the results you need to start an effective and personalized treatment plan.

Avera Lab Direct Access Testing
This location also offers Avera Lab Direct Access Testing, which lets you quickly and confidentially order a variety of tests without a doctor’s order. These tests help you monitor ongoing risks — such as complete blood count, glucose, lipids or hemoglobin — but shouldn’t be a replacement from the personalized care of your primary care provider.

Radiology & Imaging
We offer innovative imaging technology, CT scans and X-rays are available for clinical staff to order around the clock for patients making scheduled, urgent care or emergency visits. Experts conduct comfortable and quick imaging, so you receive accurate diagnosis which will determine the right treatment for your health.
