Finding Us: This center is located at the Avera Family Support & Visitation Center on South Norton Avenue in Sioux Falls, SD. Free parking is available next to the building.
Children are often caught in the middle of complicated family dynamics like divorce, domestic violence or substance misuse. Our facility is a positive, safe space for supervised visits and exchanges with the goal that children are emotionally and physically safe.
Dedicated and experienced staff here are experts in helping families with a nonjudgmental approach. This professionally monitored facility has two separate and secure entrances.
All supervised visits and exchanges are scheduled in advance and subject to availability.

Professionally Trained Staff
Professional well-trained staff monitor visits for physical and emotional safety. They receive training in 12 key areas and have backgrounds in fields such as:
- Child Development
- Counseling
- Education
- Social Work
Intake Process & Costs
To begin, all parties must schedule and complete an intake appointment for services. Intakes are done Monday through Friday between 9 AM and 4 PM. Intake packets can be picked up during business hours.
The following is required:
- $50 non-refundable intake fee
- Copy of any court documents pertaining to custody and/or visitation
- $60 one-time, refundable security deposit due from each visiting party (once both intakes are complete and visits are scheduled)
- We accept cash, check and credit card for payment
Other service costs:
- Visits: $25 per visit per party
- Exchanges: $7.50 per party for families with regularly scheduled exchanges or those enrolled with Our Family Wizard
- Exchanges: $15 per party for families who are unable to set up a regular schedule of exchanges and are not enrolled with Our Family Wizard
Visits
Families spend time together in private, child-friendly rooms monitored by professional staff. We offer multiple visitation rooms so families can spend time together.
Rooms include games, toys and comfortable furniture, so there are activities for fun memories to be made in a home-like environment.
Exchanges
Staff facilitate the exchange of children from one parent to the other. Our facility is designed to be safe and eliminate conflicts between parents. With two secure and separate entrances, a child can be dropped off at one and picked up at the other without the parents having contact.
More Program Details
For more than 25 years, the Avera Family Visitation Center has provided services to thousands of children and their families. Our center works closely with Child Protective Council (CPC) and other government programs to serve families across the region. On average each month, more than 100 families access our supervised visit and exchange programs.

It’s not easy to be a carefree kid when surrounded by fear, anger, stress or neglect. When that’s what childhood looks like, it’s no wonder children struggle to make sense of it all.
A donation of $50 provides a family with a safe, supervised visit. If you would like to make a one-time or reoccurring donation to the Avera Family Visitation Center, complete the Avera Foundation donation form.
Donating needed items is a great way to support us. Our facility is also a donation drop-off site. Please call us before you arrive. Items we accept year-round include:

- Fruit snacks
- Individually packaged crackers and cookies
- Microwave popcorn
