Finding Us: Our emergency department is located two blocks off the intersection of Highways 23 and 212. The emergency entrance is located on 10th Avenue, up the ramp on the north side of the building, which is first floor. Look for the sign marked “Emergency.”
If you or someone else is having a medical emergency, please call 911 right away. Avera Granite Falls Health Center has physicians available 24/7 to provide emergency medicine services.
If a patient requires a hospital stay, our staff will stabilize them for our admission to our hospital, which is a Level IV Trauma Center and Minnesota Acute Stroke-Ready Hospital. We can also arrange for transport to higher-level care centers.

Telemedicine Services
Avera’s emergency services are supported by telemedicine — giving you and your emergency care team immediate access to specialized personnel via two-way video, if needed for your care. These specialists act as extra eyes who assist your hands-on experts as they work swiftly to care for or stabilize you.
Patient-Focused Care
Our emergency department was designed with our patients in mind. If you arrive by ambulance, you are unloaded in our ambulance garage before entering the facility. This prevents exposure to the weather and helps protect your privacy. Those not arriving by ambulance have a designated entrance on the north side of the building. Look for the sign marked “Emergency.”
Our team will ensure you’re stabilized and cared for in a private area to further preserve your dignity. This flow of patient rooms also allows staff efficiency in serving patients and in team communication.
Laboratory
Same-day lab results and other diagnostic tests are available. Right inside our facility, you have access to a wide range of laboratory services that contribute to accurate diagnoses of medical conditions. Expert specialists conduct safe and reliable lab testing, helping you and your provider get the results you need to start an effective and personalized treatment plan.
Radiology & Imaging
Imaging technology, such as X-ray and CT scans, is available for staff to order for patients visiting the emergency room. MRI is available via mobile unit. Experts conduct comfortable and quick imaging, so you receive an accurate diagnosis which will determine the right treatment for your health.
