About

Avera Holy Family Hospital is a licensed 25-bed critical access hospital located in Emmet County, IA. It's a comprehensive medical facility owned by Avera Health, a health ministry rooted in the Gospel. With a tradition of service inspired by the Sisters of the Benedictine and Presentation orders, Avera Holy Family serves the health needs of north-central Iowa and southern Minnesota with accessible, cost-effective care.

Patients & Visitors

  • Parking spaces are available for patients and visitors to the north and south of the facility.
  • Emergency patients and visitors may enter through the emergency department entrance on the south side of the building. All other patients and visitors are welcome to enter through the main front entrance.
  • Most general care areas welcome visitors during the day.
  • The main doors to the facility lock after 5 PM on weeknights for security purposes.
  • On Sundays, the main entrance is open 10:45 AM – 12:45 PM, for Club Café guests.
  • We recommend no more than two visitors at a time. Minors and dependent adults must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Check with our staff about visitor hours.
  • We may restrict visitors, temporarily close and adjust hours to protect the safety of patients and staff.
  • Find a quiet place for prayer or meditation in the chapel on campus.

Club Café

Avera Holy Family Hospital’s cafeteria, Club Café, offers options for breakfast and lunch Monday through Friday, with lunch offered on Sundays as well. Parking is available at the north entrance. Cash, check, card and employee badge are accepted.

Radiology & Imaging

We offer innovative imaging technology — including X-rays, ultrasound, MRI, DXA, CT scans, and digital and 3D mammography — which are available for clinical staff to order for patients making scheduled or emergent visits. We also offer nuclear medicine via mobile unit. Experts conduct comfortable and quick imaging, so you receive accurate diagnosis which will determine the right treatment for your health.

Avera Lab Direct Access Testing

This location also offers Avera Lab Direct Access Testing, which lets you quickly and confidentially order a variety of tests without a doctor’s order. These tests help you monitor ongoing risks — such as complete blood count, glucose, lipids or hemoglobin — but shouldn’t be a replacement from the personalized care of your primary care provider.

Swing Bed Provider

This hospital is a swing bed provider under federal regulations, meaning that it can use hospital beds, as needed, to provide either acute or skilled nursing facility care.
