Finding Us: This emergency department entrance is on 7th Avenue near 21st Street on the Avera McKennan campus. Free parking is available next to the building and is dedicated to ER patients and their friends and family.
If you or someone else is having a medical emergency, please call 911 right away. Avera McKennan Emergency has trained staff on call 24/7 to respond quickly to medical emergencies threatening a life, a limb or an organ. If a patient requires a hospital stay, our emergency staff stabilizes them before admission to the main hospital — home to our verified Level II Trauma Center.
Avera’s specialized transport teams for adults and children also operate Careflight helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft when needed in emergencies.

Careflight air ambulances provide intensive care onboard helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft while quickly transporting patients to the nearest hospital. Our team will ensure you’re stabilized and cared for in a private room to further preserve your dignity. This flow of patient rooms also allows staff efficiency in serving patients and in team communication.
