Preventing Skin Cancer
The health of your skin is important to us, so we want you to know that skin cancer is the most common cancer there is. Exposure to the sun’s UV rays causes 90% of skin cancers. You are at higher risk if you have a fair complexion, red hair, freckling, large pigmented skin blemishes, or if you have a personal or family history of skin cancer or a severe childhood burn.
We recommend that everyone use a broad-spectrum sunscreen that protects from both ultraviolet A (UVA) and ultraviolet B (UVB) rays, with a sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 30. Find a product you’re comfortable with, so you’ll use it regularly. Two ingredients to look for in a sun block is either zinc oxide or titanium dioxide.
