Avera Medical Group Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplant Sioux Falls is a department of Avera McKennan Hospital and University Health Center.
Conditions We Treat
- Aplastic anemia
- Blood cancers, including leukemia, multiple myeloma, myelodysplastic disorders, Hodgkin’s and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma
- Non-cancerous hematology
Transplanted bone marrow cells are key to fighting disease, along with utilizing high doses of chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy through Avera Cancer Institute at Sioux Falls. This may involve self-donation of cells (autologous), or cells from a donor – related or unrelated – who is a good match (allogeneic).
Immunotherapy including CAR T-cell therapy is an FDA-approved option for high-risk relapsed patients with specific blood cancers who have failed prior therapies or transplants and have experienced two or more relapses.
Outcomes of Avera’s bone marrow transplant center are consistent with international standards for disease-free survival, treatment-related toxicity and engraftment of transplanted cells.
