Visiting Hours & Policies
Most general care areas have visiting hours of 7 AM to 7:30 PM. For inquiries about specific area visiting hours, call 605-622-5000.
- Some areas have limits on the number of visitors and hours.
- Minors and dependent adults must be accompanied at all times by a responsible adult.
- We may restrict visitors, temporarily close buildings and adjust hours to protect the safety of patients and staff.

Inpatient Therapy
If you’ve experienced a critical illness injury or medical procedure, our inpatient therapy unit is a place where you can receive highly skilled care to help you recover and regain independence.
- We offer physical, occupational and speech therapy services to help patients regain mobility and strength, improve speech and cognition, practice life skills, and restore independence.
- Our patient-centered focus, in collaboration with our hospital medical team, provides quality care with resources available to transition to Avera’s on-site or community-based swing bed services.

Surgery Services
Local and visiting surgeons provide a wide range of surgical services at our hospital and in clinics on campus and around Aberdeen. They treat various conditions with advanced technology and the latest surgical approaches with the help of other clinicians. See our surgery clinic and same-day surgery locations for more details.
Infusion
Services focus on intravenous (IV) infusions of medication and treatments for conditions including:
- Infectious diseases, including COVID-19, using antibiotics and other medications
- Blood transfusions, plasma exchange or other blood treatments
- Dehydration treatment
- Services for OB patients as ordered by their provider
- Electrolyte replacement therapies
- Rabies injections and treatment
- Treatment for various disorders in specialty areas including gastrointestinal (GI), rheumatology, nephrology and neurology

Mammography
Avera St. Luke's Hospital offers 3D mammograms, an important health screening for women ages 40 and older. Request an appointment at this location or call 605-622-2550.

Radiology & Imaging
We offer innovative imaging technology; MRI, CT scans and X-rays are available for clinical staff to order around the clock for patients making scheduled, urgent care or emergency visits. Experts conduct comfortable and quick imaging, so you receive accurate diagnosis which will determine the right treatment for your health.

Laboratory
Right inside our facility, you have access to a wide range of laboratory services that contribute to accurate diagnoses of medical conditions. Expert specialists conduct safe and reliable lab testing, helping you and your provider get the results you need to start an effective and personalized treatment plan.

Avera Lab Direct Access Testing
This location also offers Avera Lab Direct Access Testing, which lets you quickly and confidentially order a variety of tests without a doctor’s order. These tests help you monitor ongoing risks — such as complete blood count, glucose, lipids or hemoglobin — but shouldn’t be a replacement for the personalized care of your primary care provider.

Dietitians & Diabetes Education
Registered dietitians provide medical nutrition therapy for multiple chronic conditions, including diabetes self-management education. Check in at patient registration before meeting with our nutrition specialists.

Wound Care Center
Visit Avera's board-certified experts in Aberdeen for comprehensive treatment of wounds, burns and therapy. You have access to the latest technology and treatment measures, including:
- Compression wrapping
- Debridement
- Gradient compression garments
- Manual lymphatic drainage
- Orthotics
- Pain management
- Pressure relief appliances such as mattresses, cushions, etc.
- Specialized dressings
- Therapeutic exercise
- Topical medications
If your circumstances require advanced wound care, you have access to:
- Cellular tissue products
- Electrical stimulation
- Infrared
- Negative pressure vacuum-assisted closure
- Surgical wound closure
- Ultrasound
Cardiovascular Screenings
The best way to know your unique risk for cardiovascular disease is with a screening — available for men ages 40+ and women ages 45+. Most patients get both screenings done with one appointment. Call us today at 605-622-5556 to schedule your personalized appointment in Aberdeen, SD. Appointments are required.
- The $75 heart screening includes: calcium score CT, blood pressure, cholesterol and limited nutrition and tobacco cessation counseling (as needed).
- The $75 vascular screening includes: carotid artery screening, abdominal aortic aneurysm screening, lung scan and peripheral artery disease screening.
- The all-in-one, $125 screening includes everything listed for the heart and vascular screenings.

Patient Meals
Patients staying in the hospital have access to restaurant-quality meals served on demand throughout the day, with guest trays available upon request.
Chapel & Meditation
Find a quiet place for prayer or meditation in the hospital chapel just inside the west entrance.
Visitors and patients can also find quite places in the Serenity Garden on the east side of the cancer center, in our Shalom room and meditation rooms in the Don & Carmen Meyer Center of Excellence or in Lourdes Park on the northwest corner just across 3rd Avenue SE.

Our holiday hours may vary for major holidays, including New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
