Our certified hand therapists see a variety of patients, sometimes after surgery, adapting occupational tasks to prevent injury or managing a chronic hand condition. We care for conditions that affect the fingers, hands, wrists, forearms and elbows. These include the following and more:
- Fractures
- Arthritis
- Tennis elbow
- Golfer’s elbow
- Tendinitis
- Nerve injuries, such as carpal tunnel symptoms
- Flexor tendon, extensor tendon injuries
- Loss of limb
- Post-surgery recovery
Our therapists and staff will address range of motion, strength and coordination with traditional tools. You will find many of the hand therapy exercises you practice are reflective of what you do on the job or in your home. For example, opening a drawer, getting dressed, handling money, turning a screwdriver, etc. We also offer scar management and edema control as needed following surgery.
In our clinic, we can create a custom orthosis, or splint, that perfectly fits your hand, finger or wrist. To do this, we use low-temperature orthoplast material that’s placed in warm water, making the material malleable. We then easily wrap it around the affected area. The orthosis hardens, which firmly holds your hand in a supportive position secured with Velcro.
