Avera Tyler Hospital Emergency serves residents in and around Tyler, MN. Physicians and staff are available 24/7, and we are equipped with technology for high-quality and safe emergency care.
If a patient requires a hospital stay, our staff will stabilize them for admission to our hospital, which is a Level IV Trauma Center. We can also arrange for transport to higher-level care centers such as Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center in Marshall and Avera McKennan in Sioux Falls.

Basic Life Support Ambulance Service
The Tyler community is supported by a basic life support (BLS) ambulance service which delivers essential care, including CPR, oxygen therapy and wound care, to patients in emergency health situations. Staffed by trained emergency medical technicians (EMTs), these ambulances are equipped with the necessary tools to provide basic but vital support. BLS services often serve as the first line of response in emergencies, aiming to stabilize and support a patient's vital functions.
Patient-Focused Care
Our emergency department was designed with our patients in mind. If you arrive by ambulance, you are unloaded in our ambulance garage before entering the facility. This prevents exposure to the weather and helps protect your privacy. Those not arriving by ambulance have a designated entrance on the east side of the building. Follow the red emergency signage.
Our team will ensure you’re stabilized and cared for in a private area to further preserve your dignity. This flow of patient rooms also allows staff efficiency in serving patients and in team communication.
Laboratory
Same-day lab results and other diagnostic tests are available. Right inside our facility, you have access to a wide range of laboratory services that contribute to accurate diagnoses of medical conditions. Expert specialists conduct safe and reliable lab testing, helping you and your provider get the results you need to start an effective and personalized treatment plan.
Radiology & Imaging
Imaging technology, including CT scans, are available for clinical staff to order for patients visiting the emergency room. MRIs are available via mobile unit. Experts conduct comfortable and quick imaging, so you receive an accurate diagnosis which will determine the right treatment for your health.
