For more than 85 years, the residents living in and around Britton have had access to quality health care services by highly trained and compassionate experts. The facility now known as Marshall County Healthcare Center Avera began in 1963 as a charitably funded facility, operated by Marshall County. The hospital became affiliated with St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen in 1983.

• Parking for emergency services is located on the south side of the building near the entrance with a red emergency awning. All other patients and visitors may park in the main front parking lot.
• All non-emergency patients and visitors are welcome to enter through the main entrance and check in with reception just inside.
• Most general care areas welcome visitors during the day. Please keep in mind that doors to the facility lock after business hours for security purposes.
• After business hours, a buzzer and camera on the front door allow the nurses station to let in visitors after hours for both the Emergency Department and Wellness Center.
• We recommend no more than two visitors at a time. Minors and dependent adults must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
• We may restrict visitors, temporarily close and adjust hours to protect the safety of patients and staff.

This hospital is a swing bed provider under federal regulations, meaning that it can use hospital beds, as needed, to provide either acute or skilled nursing facility care.
