In this building on campus, Avera offers outreach specialty care from a variety of providers who may visit in person or see patients via telemedicine. For telemedicine appointments, patients still come to our campus for a virtual visit with an Avera specialist located elsewhere.
Some specialty services include behavioral health, cardiology, digestive health, endocrinology, genetic counseling, infectious disease, internal medicine, liver care, maternal fetal medicine, neurology, pulmonology, rheumatology, sleep medicine, urogynecology.
Many of these specialists require referrals. Contact their home clinic for questions and scheduling.
Imaging technology, including CT scans, ultrasound, X-rays and DXA (bone density scans) are available for clinical staff to order for patients. Experts conduct comfortable and quick imaging, so you receive an accurate diagnosis which will determine the right treatment for your health.

You have access to a wide range of laboratory services that contribute to accurate diagnoses of medical conditions. Expert specialists conduct safe and reliable lab testing, helping you and your provider get the results you need to start an effective and personalized treatment plan.

The Pierre Rural Family Medicine Residency program is devoted to providing an excellent education that prepares physicians for practice in South Dakota and other areas of the rural upper Midwest. Resident physicians practice medicine under the supervision of our attending physicians.
Resident physicians often stay where they complete their residencies. Our patients contribute to the health of South Dakota and our communities we serve by participating in the education and development of physicians in Pierre. With the shortage of doctors in South Dakota and elsewhere, this is an important contribution.
