During the birth, our Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) provide mothers with pain management tailored to the woman's birth plan, including epidurals and intrathecal medications.

Lactation & Breastfeeding Support

Free breastfeeding and lactation services are available. Highly trained staff help answer questions and support you with expertise and encouragement.

Laboratory

Right inside our facility, you have access to a wide range of laboratory services that contribute to accurate diagnoses of medical conditions. Women’s Health Center Tour

Find maternity services in Parkston for the best and safest childbirth and lactation consultation at this Women’s Center located inside our hospital.

Upon arrival you will be placed in one of our state-of-the-art labor and delivery rooms. You will remain in this room until after the birth of your baby.

Our labor and delivery rooms feature an HD TV, birthing bed, a storage cabinet holding labor supplies and plenty of space for your belongings, as well as a recliner for your support person.

Upon admission, you will be monitored by a centralized fetal monitor system. The monitor depicts the baby’s heart rate, as well as contractions. Additional portable fetal monitors are available if you are allowed to ambulate during labor. Your provider is able to view this system at the office, at home, or on their phone -- keeping them abreast of your progress.

Your infant will be placed in one of our bassinets during their stay. Infants must be transported to and from the nursery in the bassinet. For safety and security reasons, infants are never to be carried in the hallways.

Breastfeeding is encouraged as the gold standard in infant nutrition, and staff are trained in breastfeeding support to assist you. Boppy pillows are available on the unit if you wish to leave yours at home. If you prefer formula over breastfeeding, the hospital supplies Similac products for you to utilize during your stay, and nursing staff can assist you with that request.
