Many elements in our lives lead us to a point where we can no longer cope with the problems or stress of daily living. At this point, it is important to seek trained, professional help.
Avera St. Luke’s Hospital offers an inpatient mental health unit with specialized care for children, adolescents and adults. Our team of professionals includes psychiatrists, counselors, nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, chemical dependency psychologists, dietitians and chaplaincy. Some services are provided in cooperation with Northeastern Mental Health Center.
Specialized addiction services are offered through Avera Addiction Care Center - Aberdeen.
In addition to quality medical care, our staff considers your emotional, social, economic and spiritual needs. We’ll work with you as a team to help you along the road to recovery.
Special visiting hours for this unit are 5 – 7 p.m. weekdays and 3 – 7 p.m. weekends and holidays.
Steps of Treatment
Our program begins with assessment and evaluation. We offer an environment in which you can interact with peers and staff members. There are group and individual therapy programs, and nurses offer support and education regarding your illness and medication.
Discharge and After-Care Services
Discharge planning begins on the day of admission and is tailored to fit your individual needs. The team will provide you with recommendations on the best way to care for yourself once you leave the hospital, so you can continue to have a successful recovery.
